8 + 3 + 5 + 3 = day off

This week’s goal was reached. Hip hop hooray. 8 miles on Mon, 3 tues, 5 wed, 3 thurs. Four consecutive days of training.

Taking tonight off to have dinner with our friends Jess & Greg who are moving to Portland, Oregon in the next few months. Which is great for us since we love Portland and need a couch to crash on!

Speaking of Portland, here are a few pics from our whirlwind weekend trip there a while back.

one of the many McMenamin’s Pubs

the Doug Fir Lounge – chockablock with hipsters and decent music

home to the most amazing Mexican Mocha the planet has to offer

The Horse Brass Pub ~ beer, whiskey, fish & chips… oh my!

A stunningly elaborate cosmic mystery flower. Anyone?

I wanted to add one bit of trivia from our visit to Portland: we didn’t use the car once while we were there. After parking it in the hotel lot Friday night, that’s where it stayed until we checked out and drove south towards California. We brought our bikes and managed to get around just fine using Pedal Power. Sure, some of the roads were steep and intimidating, but the extra effort made our beers taste that much better. I suppose when you burn the calories, you earn the beer.

The flower is a passion fruit. My Mum grows them.

Thanks for the info. I think I’ve had a passion fruit before, but I’m not certain. I know I’ve had something that was passion fruit flavored.

We had a huge passion flower over at 323 I Street, growing up the side of the back door wall. I tried to transfer the vine to 315 I street, but it died. There are many varieties, some that produced edible fruit, others that produce flowers but no fruit. We had one with no fruit. The fruit itself is rather gelatinous inside with seeds, but tasty and kind of sweet nonetheless. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passiflora
